Knowledge of Islamic values is of paramount importance for all students of any nationality living in the UAE. The educational program is built consistently, its main goal is to provide an understanding of the culture and heritage of the United Arab Emirates. This knowledge expands the horizons of our pupils and allows them to discuss history, national literature, art, holidays of the UAE.
Islamic religious education is useful for any child because it teaches him to be the best version of himself, to be obedient, polite, able to come to the rescue.
In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Education, three compulsory subjects are taught in schools:
– the study of Islam;
– Arabic language;
– Social sciencies.
Study of Islam
All Muslim students are required to study Islam from grade 1 to the end of the secondary level, for non-Muslim students Islam is an optional subject.
The study of Islam covers five areas of study:
Akida (Islamic Doctrine): Schoolchildren learn about the six Creeds, get acquainted with Islamic doctrine, gain knowledge about the Creator and the things that he created.
Al Qur’an wa Ulumi (The Noble Qur’an and its sciences): Students learn to read the Qur’an according to the rules of tajweed, learn the meanings of important chapters and passages in order to apply them in their daily lives.
Fiqh-ul-Ibaadaat Wal-Muamalaat (Law of Worship and Business Relations): Students learn about the five pillars of Islam. Children have the opportunity to practice Islam at school by performing Zuhr prayer in the school prayer room.
Sira Wa Taarih (History of Islam): Schoolchildren study the lives of the prophets, as well as other stories mentioned in the Qur’an.
Ahlaaq (morality): Schoolchildren will learn about the Islamic code of morals, manners and ethics.
Arabic language
The study of Arabic is compulsory from grades 1 to 10 for all students, including those for whom Arabic is not their native language. The Arabic language is also compulsory studied in grades 11-12, according to the standards of general secondary education of the UAE (Al Thanawiya).
Arabic is the language of the Qur’an and the goal of moral education is that every student can read, write and communicate in Arabic.
We follow the standards for teaching Arabic as set out in the curriculum of the UAE Ministry of Education, in a form often referred to as “National Documents”.
Basic stage and key stage 1
Arabic is taught in the primary grades through the everyday use of the language in conversation. Young children are introduced to letters and simple words, first through speaking and listening, and then through writing and reading. They can build simple sentences and role-play in everyday situations, for example, in the family, in the store.
Key Stage 2
All students practice speaking Arabic throughout their primary school years and must reach A2 on the CEFR scale.
Key Stage 3
By the end of Grade 7, students should be able to write a short essay in Arabic that includes personal information such as name, nationality, age, school, favorite food, drink, etc.
In grades 8 and 9, students understand grammar, including possessive forms and present tense conjugation. By the end of 9th grade, they should be able to ask and answer questions, fill out an immigration form, etc.
Social studies
A compulsory subject for all students from grades 1 to 9.
The Moral Education Program (MEP) covers the four pillars of teaching and learning: character and morality; personality and society; civil studies and cultural studies. The program is a series of modules that are taught over twelve years of study – from grades 1 to 12.
To involve schoolchildren, teachers go beyond textbooks, use various game methods, non-formal teaching methods, for example, the children go on excursions with the whole class.
